The Agentic Web is a conceptual evolution of the World Wide Web where autonomous AI agents become primary actors alongside humans. The term describes an internet infrastructure optimized for agent-to-agent communication rather than human interaction.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Key characteristics of the Agentic Web include:
- Agent-native interfaces – APIs and protocols designed for machine consumption
- Decentralized identity – Agents authenticate via standards like W3C DID
- Autonomous collaboration – Agents form ad-hoc collaborations without human intervention
- Semantic data exchange – Structured, machine-readable information exchange
Enabling protocols[edit | edit source]
Several protocols aim to enable the Agentic Web:
- Agent Network Protocol – "HTTP of the Agentic Web"
- Agent-to-Agent Protocol – Enterprise agent collaboration
- Model Context Protocol – Tool and data integration
